San Francisco, CA (2014)
This space was a portion of our much larger project outfitting the Exploratorium’s new home on Piers 15 & 17 on the San Francisco waterfront.
This is a 200 seat space used for lectures, science demonstrations and originating local lectures that are streamed to remote sites. It has full audio & video production facilities and large scale projection as well as broadcast origination equipment.
What you cannot see in this photo is the very elaborate synthetic acoustic system. There are 75 small speakers in walls and ceilings as part of a Meyer Constellation system. This allows the room to take on different acoustical qualities for different types of productions as well as provide a framework for teaching architectural acoustics.
